Initiated and coordinated by Tara Bursey, the Multigenerational Arts in the Classroom program, delivered over the 2017/18 school year at Prince of Wales Elementary School, involved 36 arts workshops delivered to approximately 80 primary students and their family members.
This program grew out of an idea of POW Learning Resources Teacher Adam Farr, who was interested in building a more positive, integrated school community by inviting parents and family members into the classroom.
Red Tree Collective was excited to bring together eight of its members and guest artists to deliver workshops that gave students and their families the opportunity to learn new art techniques, engage in creative play, and showcase their unique skills. It was a pleasure spending time in the classroom, getting to know everyone who took part!
Thank you to the students, family members, POW teachers and Home & School Association volunteers who made this program a great success.
